With over 27,000 acres of grapes planted, the San Luis Obispo wine region has the third largest concentration of wineries in California. The variety of climates allows San Luis Obispo wineries to produce equally varying wines.

There are a total of four appellations in the San Luis Obispo wine region; Arroyo Grande, Edna Valley, Paso Robles, and York Mountain. Each San Luis Obispo wine appellation has a unique territory governed by the distinct temperature and weather changes of each region.

Paso Robles Wineries

Paso Robles, possibly the most well-known of the four San Luis Obispo appellations, sits atop the coastal mountain range of central California. Paso Robles wineries benefit from the widest swing of daytime and nighttime temperatures in the state. The average daytime temperature is around ninety degrees and the nighttime temperature around forty-five. Containing some of the most diverse wine country in California, Paso Robles has vineyards ranging from just 700 feet above sea level to 2,000 feet.
